WE did it – an undefeated season in our quest for knowledge!!! How’s that for “Making it Great in 2008”?? It wasn’t easy though, as victory was looking pretty bleak on the morning of our November meeting when our speaker had to cancel, but as always with this team, we perform our best at crunch time! Instead of Chuck Pierce, CEO of WindRock Energy LLC delivering a presentation on wind
energy, it was Gaynelle Pierce, Mom/Honorary NHMC team member/MVP along with co-MVP Daphne Kujawa, that scored the winning touchdown when they bravely & very competently stepped in for Chuck and with less than 8 hours preparation!! “GREAT” job ladies!!
One victory, however, does not make for an undefeated season. It was ALL of the victories in the knowledge we gained,
the networking, the friendship and the camaraderie we experienced in 2008 that resulted in our winning the championship title. As with ALL victories – they are only possible when you combine hard work, teamwork and talent, which the 2008 NHMC team had plenty of and used every bit of it! For that my fellow team members, I want to thank all of you, but especially the following “GREAT” performers who were ALL selected as starters to the Pro Bowl: June Jackson, Pat Farmer,
Aleata LeMaire, Rae Lynn Wertz, Aveina Pendergrast, Barbara Burdick, Karen Holmack, Mary Ryan, Melanie LaBree, and Susan Fontenot (all serving on the Board of Directors & as committee chairmen); Faye Autrey, Alma Baque, Maxine Campbell, Lauri Curtis, Parnecia Elich, Lucille Ellis, Barbara Godejohn, Harry Harrison, Daphne Kujawa, Tina Spitzenberger, and Theresa Viguerie (committee chairmen); Melinda Montgomery (Region IV Director); and last but not least, Jill Coble (special
board advisor). Unfortunately our Pro Bowl is not held in Hawaii as is the NFL’s, but I’m sure you will all agree that your making the team (much less the starting team) is just as “GREAT”!! Thank you ALL for your outstanding performance which allowed my leadership STAR to shine so “GREAT” and so bright!

For now, all of you can sit back and enjoy your “day in the sun”, because before you know it, June will have you “Reaching For The Stars” in 2009. Undoubtedly this Championship team can and will repeat our undefeated season under
June’s very capable leadership!
As I retire my jersey this month, I also complete my 30th year as a D&Der, and 4th time serving as Club President. As I told you when I accepted this office, “if you give – you WILL receive” - and received I have!! Not only have I received an abundance of commitment and execution, but most especially an abundance of love and
friendship from my team. I also said “whether we win, lose or draw, we will give them a good game” – and we did better than that – we gave them a “GREAT” game!! My fellow members and teammates, I am honored and blessed to have served as your 2008 President/Quarterback and thank you from the bottom of my heart for “MAKING IT GREAT IN 2008!!”
