President's Letter

Building Bridges to our Future…Through Leadership, Education and Community’

February 2010

Dear Bridge Builders:

February is a month of fun holidays. Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras. But before the fun begins, your Board has been hard at work getting a budget completed and handling Club business.

I want to thank Cecilia Pernasilice for her hard work in getting everything ironed out with the new hotel. Change is never easy and our first meeting at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza was challenging at best. Cecilia was gracious under fire and I hope you will all join me in thanking her. I am happy to report that, in the event that the hotel anticipates there will be a parking issue, they will offer our members valet parking. If you have any issues with the hotel, please let Cecilia know as she is our vocal point with the hotel.

This month’s speaker is Bob Bemis, Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety with Noble Energy, Inc. Our Club currently has 9 members employed by Noble Energy, Inc. and their managers have been very supportive of their participation in D & D.

This month we will be voting on the 2010 Budget and the 2011 Region IV Meeting Location. Please make a point to stay for the business meeting as we need your input and vote.

There are still committees that need a Chairman. Please review the committee list on Page 10 and contact me if you are interested in chairing one of the committees. I would really like someone to chair the Community Service committee so we can continue to help those less fortunate in our community.

I encourage all of you to attend the Region IV Meeting. Thursday, March 25th is dedicated to field trips and Friday, March 26th is seminar day. There are a variety of energy related topics to choose from. The Business Session will be held on Saturday morning followed by the Awards Luncheon. I hope to be able to share this experience with as many of you as possible.

This year’s convention will be held in Houston on September 22 –25, 2010. The registration is already posted on the ADDC website. Because the convention is in Houston, it is a great opportunity for those members who have not yet attended a Convention, to catch the spirit of D & D and join your fellow members of the Association as they Connect, Collaborate and Communicate.

A warm welcome to our new member, Adele Moreno.

Until next month,
Susan
